Savavet Safeheart is a prescription-only veterinary cardiovascular medication formulated for the management and treatment of mild, moderate, or severe congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs. The active pharmaceutical ingredient, Pimobendan, acts as a highly effective "inodilator" through a unique dual mechanism of action: it serves as a calcium sensitizer to strengthen heart muscle contractions (positive inotropy) while simultaneously acting as a phosphodiesterase III (PDE3) inhibitor to dilate peripheral blood vessels.
This dual action significantly reduces the overall workload on a compromised heart, maximizes cardiac output, and actively alleviates debilitating symptoms such as chronic coughing, labored breathing (dyspnea), and exercise intolerance. It is heavily prescribed for dogs suffering from atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI), Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD), or Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM). It can also be deployed to delay the onset of clinical heart failure in preclinical stages. Administered orally at strict 12-hour intervals (preferably on an empty stomach), these chewable, scored tablets noticeably enhance everyday comfort, vitality, and long-term survival time.
