Oriheal Benzavet 10mg is a prescription-only veterinary cardiovascular and renal medication formulated for dogs and cats. The active pharmaceutical ingredient, Benazepril Hydrochloride (10mg), functions as a highly effective Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. After oral administration, it is rapidly metabolized in the liver into its active form, benazeprilat, which works by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. This targeted action relaxes and dilates blood vessels, significantly reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering systemic blood pressure.
By decreasing the afterload and overall workload on a compromised heart, Benzavet 10mg helps manage congestive heart failure (CHF) secondary to atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs, as well as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in cats. Beyond its cardiac benefits, this medication provides essential renoprotective support. It reduces glomerular capillary pressure in the kidneys, making it an indispensable first-line therapy for managing chronic renal failure (CRF) and slowing the progression of protein-losing nephropathies. Administered orally once daily, these tablets help minimize tissue scarring, reduce fluid retention, and improve the general comfort and lifespan of companion animals.
