Corise OpthoPet FB (5ml) is a prescription-only veterinary non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ophthalmic solution formulated for the management of eye pain, swelling, and deep tissue inflammation in dogs and cats. The active pharmaceutical ingredient, Flurbiprofen Sodium USP (0.03% w/v), is a potent cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor that blocks prostaglandin synthesis. Prostaglandins are the primary chemical mediators responsible for intraocular inflammation, miosis (pupil constriction) during surgery, and breakdown of the blood-aqueous barrier.
To enhance therapeutic delivery, the solution is fortified with Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC 0.02% w/v), a comforting polymer that acts as an artificial lubricant. HPMC stabilizes the tear film, extends the contact time of the active drug on the cornea, and reduces dry eye irritation. Additionally, Phenylmercuric Nitrate (0.001% w/v) is included as a mild antiseptic and specialized preservative to prevent bacterial contamination during prolonged treatment cycles. In veterinary medicine, OpthoPet FB is primarily indicated for controlling acute anterior uveitis, managing conjunctivitis, alleviating the discomfort of glaucoma, and preventing reflexive pupil constriction during intraocular surgeries. Applied topically, it significantly reduces ocular redness, swelling, and pain, ensuring an infection-free and rapid recovery for sensitive pet eyes.
