| Common Use Case | Rapid temporary dilation (mydriasis) of the pupil for comprehensive ophthalmic exams and retinal mapping; inducing cycloplegia to immobilize the ciliary body during painful ocular conditions; clinical management of acute anterior uveitis to alleviate ciliary muscle spasms; and preventing adhesion of the iris to the lens (synechiae) during active inflammatory cycles. |
Corise OpthoPet TR (5ml) is a prescription-only veterinary diagnostic and therapeutic ophthalmic solution formulated for dogs and cats. The active pharmaceutical setup consists of an anticholinergic blend, primarily featuring Tropicamide (often paired with Phenylephrine Hydrochloride), which acts as a highly effective mydriatic (pupil-dilating) and cycloplegic (focus-relaxing) agent. By temporarily blocking the action of acetylcholine on the sphincter muscle of the iris and the ciliary body muscle, it induces rapid and controlled pupil dilation.
In veterinary medicine, OpthoPet TR is primarily used as an essential diagnostic tool prior to thorough funduplicate examinations, allowing veterinary ophthalmologists to clearly visualize internal structures like the retina, lens, vitreous humor, and optic nerve. Beyond its diagnostic utility, it is clinically prescribed as a therapeutic agent to treat acute anterior uveitis (inner eye inflammation). By relaxing the painfully spasming ciliary muscles, it relieves deep ocular pain and effectively prevents the formation of posterior synechiae (the iris abnormally sticking to the lens). Administered topically, this fast-acting drop provides maximum dilation within minutes, ensuring diagnostic precision and targeted inflammatory pain relief.
