Corise Opthocare XT (5ml) is a prescription-only, dual-action veterinary ophthalmic solution engineered for the aggressive management and control of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in dogs and cats diagnosed with primary or secondary glaucoma. The high-potency formulation combines two distinct active pharmaceutical ingredients: Dorzolamide Hydrochloride IP (2.0% w/v) and Timolol Maleate IP (0.5% w/v).
Glaucoma is a painful condition characterized by an imbalance in fluid dynamics within the eye, leading to a dangerous buildup of pressure that can cause irreversible optic nerve damage and blindness. Opthocare XT attacks this problem from two angles. Dorzolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that curbs the chemical production of aqueous humor (the fluid inside the eye). Timolol Maleate is a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker that works synergistically to further suppress fluid secretion while optimizing drainage pathways. Applied topically under strict veterinary supervision, Opthocare XT quickly drops intraocular pressure back into a safe range, alleviating severe ocular pain and preserving your pet's vision.
Special Medical Precaution: Because Timolol Maleate is a beta-blocker, it can be absorbed systemically. It should be used with extreme caution in pets with pre-existing heart conditions (like bradycardia or heart failure), asthma, or diabetes, as it can alter heart rates or mask the physical warning signs of low blood sugar.
