Oriheal Opthovet-NACL (10ml) is a specialized veterinary hyperosmotic ophthalmic solution formulated to treat corneal edema (excess fluid accumulation within the cornea) and improve vision clarity in dogs and cats. The formulation features Sodium Chloride (5.0% w/v) as its active pharmaceutical ingredient, balanced in a sterile aqueous vehicle.
Corneal edema can happen as a result of aging, eye infections, physical trauma, or surgeries, and it causes a painful, bluish-grey haze over the pet's eye that blurs their vision. Opthovet-NACL works by creating a controlled hypertonic osmotic gradient across the surface of the eye. Because the salt concentration of the drops is higher than the fluid trapped inside the eye tissues, it naturally draws out the excess fluid from the corneal stroma. This reduces painful swelling, clears up the bluish cloudiness, and restores normal corneal clarity. Additionally, veterinarians often use this solution to prevent the recurrence of painful bullae (fluid blisters) and secondary corneal ulcers after an initial erosion has healed.
