Oriheal Opthovet M (5ml) is a prescription-only, advanced veterinary antibiotic ophthalmic solution formulated to treat acute and chronic bacterial eye infections in dogs and cats. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (0.5% w/v), balanced in a sterile aqueous vehicle.
Moxifloxacin is a potent, fourth-generation broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It delivers rapid bactericidal activity by inhibiting two critical bacterial enzymes: DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. This dual mechanism completely disrupts bacterial DNA replication and transcription, making it highly effective against a wide array of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including bacteria that have grown resistant to older-generation antibiotics. In veterinary medicine, Opthovet M is prescribed to treat conditions like bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis (corneal inflammation), blepharitis, and deep-seated corneal ulcers. Because it contains no steroids, it is completely safe to use on scratched or ulcerated corneas to eliminate green-yellow mucous discharge, reduce irritation, and support clean tissue healing.
