Savavet Visiocare (5g) is a premium, prescription-only veterinary immunosuppressive ophthalmic ointment engineered for the chronic clinical management of primary immune-mediated eye diseases in dogs and cats. The active pharmaceutical ingredient is Cyclosporine IP (2.0 mg/gm / 0.2% w/v), suspended in a smooth, sterile ointment base.
Unlike temporary lubricating artificial tears, Visiocare targets the underlying biological cause of chronic dry eye, formally known as Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS), and Chronic Superficial Keratitis (CSK / Pannus). In pets with KCS, the immune system mistakenly deploys T-lymphocytes to attack and inflame the lacrimal (tear) glands, progressively destroying their ability to produce fluid. Cyclosporine acts as a localized immunomodulator, effectively blocking the activation of these destructive T-cells and halting tissue damage. This therapeutic reset allows the lacrimal glands to recover, naturally increasing endogenous (the pet's own) tear production. Furthermore, it possesses intrinsic anti-inflammatory properties that calm corneal irritation, reduce painful friction, and help minimize the dense corneal pigment and scarring that can lead to permanent blindness if left untreated.
Clinical Usage Note: Because KCS and CSK are chronic, progressive, and generally lifelong autoimmune disorders, Visiocare typically requires consistent, lifelong daily administration to prevent immediate symptomatic relapse. For maximum efficacy, therapy should be initiated early in the disease process before irreversible destruction of the lacrimal tissue occurs.
