Veko Otikoo (15ml) is a highly effective, prescription-only veterinary otic solution formulated for the treatment of acute and chronic outer ear infections (otitis externa) in dogs and cats. This broad-spectrum medication utilizes a powerful 4-in-1 therapeutic formula to address mixed infections, painful swelling, and severe discomfort: Ofloxacin (0.3% w/v), Clotrimazole (1.0% w/v), Betamethasone Dipropionate (0.025% w/v), and Lignocaine Hydrochloride (2.0% w/v).
Each active ingredient targets a specific component of a complex ear infection. Ofloxacin is a potent, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic that eliminates tough Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens. Clotrimazole acts as a highly reliable antifungal agent, specifically destroying stubborn yeast overgrowths like Malassezia pachydermatis. Betamethasone Dipropionate is a strong corticosteroid that rapidly reduces localized tissue swelling, intense redness, and inflammatory heat inside the narrow ear canal. To provide immediate physical comfort, Lignocaine (Lidocaine) Hydrochloride serves as a topical local anesthetic, temporarily numbing nerve pathways to stop agonizing ear pain, frantic head shaking, and self-inflicted scratching injuries.
Critical Safety Warning: Otikoo Ear Drops must never be used if the pet's eardrum (tympanic membrane) is torn, ruptured, or perforated. Administering otic drops into a compromised ear canal can cause permanent hearing loss, nerve damage, or severe vestibular toxicity (loss of balance). A veterinarian must always confirm the eardrum is completely intact using an otoscope before starting this medication.
