Vivaldis Clearify (100ml) is an advanced veterinary ear cleansing flush specifically designed to manage and resolve external ear infections (otitis externa) in dogs and cats. This specialized therapeutic formula relies on the synergy of its primary active components: Tris (Tromethamine) and EDTA (Disodium EDTA Dihydrate), suspended in a sterile, aqueous alkaline base.
Rather than working as a standard maintenance wax remover, Clearify is engineered to alter the local environment of the ear canal to assist in clinical infection management. It operates through three main mechanisms:
- Antibiotic Potentiating Agent: Tris-EDTA targets the cellular integrity of Gram-negative pathogens (such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa). By binding essential calcium and magnesium ions, it disrupts and breaks down thick, protective bacterial biofilms. This destabilization allows concurrent prescription antibiotic drops to penetrate deeper and work more effectively.
- Alkalinizing Solution: It maintains an alkaline pH inside the ear canal, creating an environment that inhibits the growth of opportunistic bacteria and yeasts, including Malassezia pachydermatis.
- Antibacterial Flush: It liquefies and flushes out crusts, cellular exudates, and sticky, foul-smelling discharges without causing mechanical abrasion.
The alcohol-free, non-stinging formulation is highly valued by veterinary dermatologists as a prerequisite pre-treatment flush before applying topical medication and as a gentle solution to soothe red, itchy, and highly inflamed ear tissues.
