Alembic Mopear is an advanced, non-irritating veterinary aural hygiene solution designed to thoroughly clean, dry, and protect the external ear canals of dogs and cats. The specialized, alcohol-free formulation features a dual-action blend of Salicylic Acid IP (0.2% w/v) and Phenoxyethanol BP (0.3% w/v), suspended in a pH-balanced, non-stinging aqueous vehicle.
Each active component serves a clinical purpose to restore ear canal health. Salicylic Acid acts as a powerful keratolytic and cerumenolytic agent; it thins out greasy discharges, chemically softens and dissolves hardened earwax plugs, and gently exfoliates dead skin cells along the canal lining without requiring aggressive mechanical wiping. Phenoxyethanol functions as a highly effective antimicrobial preservative and helper agent, suppressing localized bacterial overgrowth and minimizing microscopic pathogen colonization.
By creating an acidified, clean environment, Mopear actively discourages the proliferation of opportunistic yeasts (Malassezia pachydermatis) and bacteria. It is highly valued in daily veterinary grooming as a regular routine maintenance cleanser for pets prone to floppy-ear moisture retention or allergies, and as an essential pre-treatment flush to clear out structural debris before applying prescription medicated otic drops.
Critical Safety Warning: Mopear Ear Cleanser must never be administered if the pet's eardrum (tympanic membrane) is suspected to be torn, ruptured, or perforated. A veterinarian should perform an otoscopic examination to verify an intact tympanic membrane prior to initiating heavy ear flushes.
