FUR by Entod Furlot-M (5ml) is a prescription-strength, dual-action veterinary ophthalmic suspension engineered to treat complicated superficial bacterial eye infections accompanied by severe localized inflammation, swelling, and immune-mediated reactions in dogs and cats. This advanced therapeutic formula features a powerful combination of a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic and a site-specific "soft" corticosteroid: Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (0.5% w/v) and Loteprednol Etabonate (0.5% w/v), sterilely prepared in an aqueous buffered vehicle.

Each active pharmaceutical ingredient targets a distinct component of ocular pathology:

• Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic Action: Moxifloxacin provides rapid, broad-spectrum bactericidal action against a wide array of Gram-positive and Gram-negative ocular pathogens. It works at the cellular level by blocking essential bacterial enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) required for bacterial DNA replication.

• Targeted Anti-Inflammatory Relief: Loteprednol Etabonate is a unique "soft steroid" structurally designed to provide powerful topical anti-inflammatory action at the ocular surface. Once it fulfills its therapeutic role, it is rapidly metabolized into an inactive substance. This significantly lowers the risk of systemic absorption or classic steroid-induced side effects, such as a dangerous increase in intraocular pressure (glaucoma) or early cataract formation. It effectively shuts down the inflammatory cascade to eliminate blepharitis, severe conjunctival tissue edema (swelling), and excessive tearing or discharge.

In companion animal medicine, Furlot-M is highly effective for managing severe bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye), superficial keratitis, anterior uveitis, and controlling post-operative inflammation and swelling following delicate veterinary intraocular surgeries.

Critical Safety Contraindication: Corticosteroid-containing ophthalmic drops like Furlot-M are strictly contraindicated in cases of active, deep, or melting corneal ulcers, as well as viral or fungal eye infections. Corticosteroids suppress the local immune response and slow down cell regeneration, which can cause a simple corneal scratch to rapidly deteriorate into a catastrophic corneal perforation (rupture of the eye). A veterinarian must always perform a fluorescein stain test to verify that the corneal epithelium is 100% intact before this medication is introduced.
