Medfly Healthcare OtiShield (50ml) is an advanced, multi-action veterinary ear cleansing solution engineered for routine aural hygiene, heavy wax removal, and supportive care during outer ear infections (otitis externa) in dogs and cats. The specialized formula combines powerful cerumenolytic (wax-dissolving), antiseptic, and skin-soothing agents: Benzoic Acid (2% w/v), Lactic Acid (25 mg/ml), Salicylic Acid (2 mg/ml), Propylene Glycol (335 mg/ml), and a protective Ceramide Complex, enhanced by a refreshing cucumber-melon scent.
Note: Select clinical batches are fortified with low-dose Hydrocortisone (1%) and Clotrimazole (0.2%) under the same brand name to manage severe inflammatory ear cases.
Each component is balanced to restore the ear canal microenvironment. The combination of Salicylic, Lactic, and Benzoic acids functions as an effective keratolytic and drying system. This trio chemically dissolves tough, greasy earwax plugs, lifts away sloughed dead skin cells, and lowers the internal pH of the ear canal. Creating an acidic environment naturally inhibits the colonization and reproduction of opportunistic bacteria and yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis). Propylene Glycol breaks down deep cellular debris without manual abrasion, while the integrated Ceramide Complex mimics the skin’s natural lipid barrier, accelerating tissue healing and locking in essential moisture. OtiShield is used as a preventative weekly maintenance rinse for allergy-prone or swimming pets, and as a prerequisite pre-treatment flush to clear out structural barriers before applying prescription antibiotic drops.
