Veko Auriko (15ml) is a prescription-only veterinary otic suspension engineered for the comprehensive treatment of acute and chronic otitis externa (outer ear infections) in dogs and cats. This advanced therapeutic formula features a powerful, synergistic triple-action combination of active pharmaceutical ingredients: Enrofloxacin (0.5% w/v), Silver Sulphadiazine (1.0% w/v), and Hydrocortisone Acetate (0.5% w/v), suspended in a sterile vehicle.
Each component targets a specific aspect of painful, inflamed, and discharging ear infections. Enrofloxacin is a potent, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic that delivers rapid bactericidal activity against tough Gram-negative pathogens (such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and Gram-positive bacteria. Silver Sulphadiazine serves as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent with excellent antifungal properties, making it highly effective at eradicating stubborn yeast overgrowths like Malassezia pachydermatis while working alongside the antibiotic to speed up tissue healing. Hydrocortisone Acetate is a mild topical corticosteroid that provides immediate localized relief by reducing intense ear swelling, redness, heat, and persistent itching. Together, they work efficiently to resolve foul ear odors, dark waxy discharge, and intense scratching or head-shaking discomfort.
Critical Safety Warning: Auriko Ear Drops must never be administered if the pet's eardrum (tympanic membrane) is torn, ruptured, or perforated. Infusing otic medications into a compromised ear canal can lead to permanent hearing loss, vestibular toxicity (loss of balance), or internal nerve damage. A veterinarian must always perform a thorough otoscopic exam to confirm the eardrum is completely intact prior to initiating treatment.
